Nine days to go until the Boschkop Farm atlas bash, North West province

Calling all Gauteng and North-West based atlasers. There is still space available at Boschkop Farm for the atlas bash organised for the Herirtage Day long-weekend, 21-24 September.

Koos Pauw, who is organising the bash, says "We will work a number of pentads mainly to the north and east of Pilanesberg in continuation of the Four Degrees Green project initiated by Etienne Marais a few years ago. Special attention will be given to assist and guide new atlasers. So if you always wanted to start this wonderful way of birding here’s your chance".

This bash will try and target some of the remaining pentads requiring seven or more checklsits in the four-degrees surrounding Gauteng and will contribute to the 7-4-7 challenge. Currently 92% of the pentads have seven or more checklists, with 103 grids still outstanding, most of which require three checklists to reach this target. Getting seven checklists per pentad for the four degrees will provide good data for the analyses to be carried out at a later stage for this region.

Please contact Koos at 073 190 3250 or kerneels@intekom.co.za for more information or to book your spot. Atlasers are welcome to stay only one or two nights or to come through for the day. The more people we can get involved with initiatives like this better.
